Portsmouth Community Diagnostic Centre
The Portsmouth Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) is a joint initiative between Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) and Alliance Medical (AML), created to expand local diagnostic capacity and improve access to vital tests for people across Portsmouth and the wider region.
Located at Rodney Road, the centre will transform an existing Trust-owned building into a modern diagnostic hub in the heart of the community. The Portsmouth CDC supports the NHS’s national programme to deliver more diagnostics closer to home – helping patients get answers sooner, without the need to travel to acute hospital sites.
Planned phased opening:
• Molecular Imaging (PET-CT): Summer 2026
• Diagnostic Imaging (CT, MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound): Autumn 2026

About the partnership
The Portsmouth CDC is delivered through apartnership between Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and Alliance Medical. Alliance Medical is leading on the refurbishment of the site and providing advanced imaging equipment and specialist teams for MRI, CT and PET-CT services, helping to increase local diagnostic capacity. Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust provides clinical leadership, ensures integration with local NHS pathways, and manages onward referrals to supportpatient care.
