Colchester United and Alliance Medical Strengthen Community Partnership with New MRI Facility at JobServe Community Stadium

July 24, 2026

Colchester United is pleased to announce that Alliance Medical has established a new mobile MRI facility at the JobServe Community Stadium, further strengthening the long-standing relationship between the two organisations.

Alliance Medical has provided diagnostic imaging support to Colchester United's players for the past two years, helping ensure timely access to specialist MRI services when required. The latest collaboration extends that partnership beyond elite sport, bringing additional healthcare capacity to the wider Colchester community.

Alliance Medical operates a network of Community Diagnostic Centres across the UK and understands the challenges many communities face in accessing timely diagnostic care. That experience and our long-standing relationship made the Club a natural choice when the opportunity arose.

With increasing demand for MRI services, Alliance Medical approached the Club to explore whether the stadium could provide a suitable location for a temporary mobile MRI unit. The additional capacity will help support MRI services for patients across East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, while providing an accessible community-based location for appointments.

As one of the region's leading community venues, the JobServe Community Stadium was ideally placed to help. The site offers excellent transport links, extensive parking and easy accessibility, creating a convenient location for patients attending appointments.

Working closely together, Colchester United's Operations Team delivered the infrastructure required to accommodate the unit within an exceptionally short timescale, ensuring Alliance Medical could begin providing services as quickly as possible.

Tim Waddington, General Manager of Colchester United, said:

"We're delighted to support Alliance Medical with this important project. We've built an excellent working relationship over recent seasons through the care they've provided to our players, so when they approached us to discuss a potential solution, we were keen to see how we could help.
"As a community club and community stadium, we're always looking at ways our facilities can benefit people beyond football. This is a great example of organisations working together to deliver a practical solution that will make accessing vital diagnostic services easier for local patients."
"I'd also like to thank our Operations Team, who responded brilliantly. Delivering the infrastructure needed within such a tight timeframe required excellent planning, flexibility and teamwork and they should be incredibly proud of what they've achieved."

Sarah Warner, Centre Manager at Alliance Medical, said:

"Better access to diagnostic imaging can make a real difference to a patient's care, and we're always looking for ways to bring our services closer to the communities that need them. We understand both the demand for local access and what it takes to deliver it well, and our strong partnership with Colchester United, made them the perfect choice to support this service. They've been incredibly responsive to this project and genuinely invested in finding a solution that works for local patients. We're proud to be working together to deliver something that benefits the whole community."

The MRI unit will operate from the JobServe Community Stadium under a commercial agreement between the two organisations, reflecting a partnership that delivers mutual value while supporting improved access to healthcare services across the local community.

The initiative further demonstrates the evolving role of the JobServe Community Stadium as a community asset, supporting not only professional football and events, but also organisations delivering essential services for the people of Colchester and North Essex. While best known as the home of Colchester United, the JobServe Community Stadium continues to play an increasingly important role as a community hub, hosting healthcare services, education, business events, charity initiatives and activities that benefit residents across North Essex.
