Alliance Medical WINS TWO GOLDS at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2024!

March 22, 2024

Alliance Medical is delighted to announce we have officially been named as the Gold winner in two categories at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2024; Diagnostics Project of the Year and Best Community Partnership with the NHS.

Now in their 7th year, the awards recognise projects that are improving diagnostic services at a local, regional or national level, and partners that can demonstrate their support to the NHS in achieving its goals.

Oldham Community Diagnostic Centre was submitted as the case study for both winning entries. Together with our incredible partners Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, we opened Oldham CDC - a £10m investment that serves over 30,000 patients per year, providing a wide range of diagnostic imaging technology including PET-CT, as well as heart and lung tests and blood tests. Bringing Oldham CDC to life has been extremely rewarding and our partnership is one of genuine collaboration.

The success of our Community Diagnostic Centre lies firmly in the hands of every single team member involved. Thank you to all our amazing colleagues who work so hard to deliver life-saving checks and scans. Oldham CDC has seen such incredible results achieving quicker diagnoses and reduced waiting times for scans, both vitally important in improving patient outcomes. This award is deserved recognition of everyone’s hard-work and dedication! We were also honoured to be nominated for the Long Term Partnership with The NHS award.

Barney Schofield, Director of NHS Partnerships at Alliance Medical, said:

"To win one award would have been quite something, but two is unbelievable. I’m so proud that our hard-working team has been recognised for their commitment to saving and improving the lives of patients in Greater Manchester. We’d also like to extend our thanks to our NHS partners at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust who played such a vital role in this award.”

With 28 separate categories this year, the winners were announced during an impressive ceremony held at Evolution London, on Thursday 21 March, hosted by Miles Jupp. The event was attended by representatives from the NHS, and both the private and third sector as well as key players from non-clinical backgrounds, all coming together to celebrate the importance of positive partnerships and acknowledging how these underpin the future sustainability of the NHS.

HSJ editor Alastair McLellan comments:

"This year’s awards demonstrate there is almost no NHS clinical or support service which does not rely – sometimes almost completely – on the efforts of external suppliers. Almost any attempt to improve NHS productivity – the service’s greatest challenge - without working in concert with suppliers starts at a major disadvantage. Indeed, many of the best ideas for improving productivity do and will come from suppliers. Every one of the businesses on the Partnership Awards shortlist has shown the kind of thinking and determination it takes to deliver change in healthcare services. They should all be very proud of the efforts, our 28 winners especially so.”

The winners were selected following a rigorous two-stage judging process ahead of the HSJ Partnership Awards 2024 awards ceremony. The full list of Winners and those Highly Commended for the 2024 HSJ Partnership Awards can be found at https://partnership.hsj.co.uk/winners-2024
