Information for patientsAfter your scan After the scan has been completed you are free to change back into your clothes and leave immediately. We recommend that you don’t have close contact with pregnant women or young children for 8 hours after the scan. You are encouraged to drink plenty of water (approximately 4 to 5 glasses) as this will help flush any excess tracer through your kidneys. Your images will be analysed by our PET/CT Specialists and a report will be sent to the doctor who requested your scan. Are there any side effects? There have been no documented side effects associated with the injection of the radioactive tracer. The small amount of radiation involved is kept to a minimum (a similar amount to other diagnostic procedures such as CT). In some circumstances our clinicians advise that you are given a mild sedative to enhance the results of your scan. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you prior to the day of your test to enable you to arrange for someone to accompany you home. We recommend that if you are given this mild sedative, you do not drive for the remainder of the day. Patient care Alliance Medical aims to give you the best possible care, and we can assure you that your privacy and dignity will remain a priority at all times. We welcome your comments and provide you with feedback opportunities either through a Patient Satisfaction Survey or via this website. |
