Lung Cancer
PET/CT defines extent of disease

Patient History
A patient with known carcinoma of the lung presented for assessment of disease extent. A recent CT scan revealed the mass in the lung extending into the chest wall.

Scan Findings
PET/CT demonstrated a large FDG avid mass in the left upper zone, however the metabolic activity did not extend as far as the chest wall.

Conclusion
Based on these results, the patient was downstaged.
