Colorectal Cancer
PET/CT reveals the site of disease

Patient History
A female patient presented with an ovarian mass for assessment of malignancy. Recent blood tests revealed rising CEA.

Scan Findings
PET/CT demonstrated that the cystic lesion in the pelvis was not malignant, however it revealed an area of intense FDG uptake highly suspicious of malignancy in the descending colon. This lesion had not been noted on a recent CT scan.

Conclusion
Based on these results, the colonic mass was removed and histology revealed Dukes B carcinoma of the colon.
