Cardiac Optimised MR - Magnetom Sonata 1.5T MRI scanner
Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CMR) has been clearly shown to improve the diagnosis of congenital heart disease, atherosclerosis using angiography, ventricular function and cardiomyopathies but it is also used for a wide range of cardiac conditions. Using a powerful 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner with an ultrafast gradient system, moving organs, such as the heart, can be imaged very quickly. This ultrafast imaging technique, which has the advantage of not using ionising radiation, allows very detailed examination of heart disease. This includes myocardial viability, perfusion and valve function.

Since the technical performance of CMR Scanners is so powerful, it is an excellent diagnostic tool for all other clinical specialities including Orthopaedics, Neurology and all Abdominal and Pelvic Imaging.
