Intake
The course number will be limited to approximately 20 attendees. This will allow interaction with the lecturers, achieving the most from the two days.

Lectures
The course is designed to use a variety of teaching techniques and of speakers. Core physical principles are taught by a Clinical Physics Team who have taught on the courses since 1994. Their extensive experience enables them to clearly explain the principles and help develop your understanding of the complex elements of the physics.
Clinical experts deliver interactive sessions considering MRI techniques and approaches to imaging and pathological appearances on MR Images. These clinical experts are a combination of Radiologists and Radiographers who remain current in clinical practice.

Planned Lecture Programme

The physics content is designed to cover the fundamental elements in an easy to understand way.

Basic Physics covers the fundamentals of MRI physics including:

Precession
Larmor Frequency
Excitation
Phase Coherence
Resonance
T1 & T2 Processes

Pulse Sequences & Tissue Contrast covers the basic pulse sequence to come to an understanding of MR Imaging:

T1 Contrast – T1 Relaxation
T2 Contrast – T2 Decay
Proton Density
Spin Echo Pulse Sequence
Inversion Recovery Pulse Sequence

Image Quality & Artefacts covers the fundamentals of parameters that affect image quality and the important artefacts. At this level identification of common MRI artefacts and the appropriate techniques to eliminate or reduce them is discussed.

Patient Safety & Management is considered the most important aspect of MR Imaging and we cover the important aspects of MRI safety and the clinical considerations that have to be made before imaging patients.
