Intermediate CT Course

Target Audience: Radiographers and Technologists

Pre-requisites: Understanding of basic Physical Principles
Cost: £499.37 (price effective from January 2008)

This course is a programme designed for Radiographers & Technologists who wish to understand the principles and applications of conventional and helical CT. This course includes topics relating to both conventional and volumetric (helical and multi-slice) CT.

The clinical components will be broader than those in the introductory CT course with greater depth to them. There will be opportunities to discuss your current practice with the lecturers and reflect on current practice.

Intake
The course number will be limited to approximately 30 attendees. This will allow candidates to interact with the lecturers, achieving the most from the three days.

Lectures
The course is designed to use a variety of teaching techniques and speakers. A physicist who has been lecturing for Alliance Medical since 1995 teaches core physical principles. His extensive experience enables him to clearly explain the principles and help develop your understanding of the complex elements of the physics.

Clinical experts deliver interactive sessions considering CT techniques and approaches to imaging and pathological appearances on CT Images. These clinical experts are a combination of Radiologists and Radiographers who remain current in clinical practice.

Subjects covered in the Introductory course are covered in greater depth with specialists in the appropriate area. These lectures remain fully interactive and allow for open discussion of techniques and imaging strategies.

Course Content
This course builds on the basic understanding of CT physics and clinical uses covered in the Introductory CT course. Physics covered in an enjoyable way!

High image quality is demanded in every CT imaging system. The basics of CT and image quality lectures demonstrate how as radiographers we can use measured variables and methodology to produce the best image quality.

Parameters covered are spatial resolution, image resolution, noise dose and CT numbers. How these parameters interact with each other will be explained in an understandable process.

With the advancement of PET CT we offer an interesting insight into how PET works.

Paediatrics explains how we should alter our working practice to deal with this very important sector.
Radiologists cover the rest of the clinical elements. Opportunity exists for discussion and a viewing session of brain scans is especially valuable.
